I
recently went to the premiere of the urban drama In Too Deep.
This movie stars some of today's hottest black actors -- Omar
Epps, LL Cool J, Nia Long and Pam Grier.
In
Too Deep is based on a real-life story of a Baltimore detective
that infiltrates a major drug organization to take down God, an
unstoppable and ruthless drug lord played so impressively by LL
Cool J. God's conflict against the hard working, dedicated
undercover cop, (Epps) provides the heart of the plot.
The
movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering whether Epps
will be found out as a cop. I won't give it away for those who
haven't seen it, but the ending of the movie is not what you'd
expect -- which leads me to my next subject.
I
believe that the movie should have delivered more at the end,
but unfortunately it doesn't. But there are highlights: Nia Long
playing a role similar to her role in Love Jones -- and
no matter how old she gets, Pam Grier will always be eye candy,
even when she plays a tough undercover detective. The movie also
shows the level that people will go to for the love of money -
whether a crackhead or a drug lord. It also reminds you that what
you do often affects others.
Check
out the movie - it's worth it.
Peace
and Blessings, Naquan
