125 x 125 Style

John Glenn, ex-Marine, Mercury Astronaut, United States Senator, and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, wears a ring celebrating his proudest accomplishment -- Mrs. Glenn.

I happen to love seeing a man with a college ring ("From Slime To Sublime", Feb. 2001). I think it's bold and so very masculine. Not a huge or garish ring but a signet style college ring or a "stadium cut". I find it very sexy and exciting. I don't care what you self proclaimed style editors say and certainly hope a self assured man wouldn't listen to your foolishness. I am an educated , sophisticated woman and I'm thrilled to see a man who's proud of his accomplishments. The "Right Stuff" astronauts all wore their college rings and I think they are as sexy as any men who ever lived. Would you say Jim Lovell had no style? Stop scaring the men who want to wear their college rings. And to the men who are wavering about wearing those rings, there are many sexy women out there who love men who wear a class ring. Wear them proudly guys! PS I feel the same about military rings for men. - Katherine Anderson (no address given)

Rest assured, we're not looking to send hordes of men rushing to the pawn shop. And our editorial staff, which includes graduates from several respected universities (as well as a top military academy), has nothing against higher education or serving our fine nation. But we're willing to bet our last cent that for every woman who's thrilled by a man who's proud of his accomplishments, there are at least three who find a man who is humble about his accomplishments infinitely more stylish (as well as interesting). If you've gotta wear one ring celebrating your achievements in life (and NO man should wear more than one ring), wait until you meet Mrs. Right. We guarantee you that a woman with "The Right Stuff" will be worth bragging about.

PS Actually, Jim Lovell flew four missions under the Gemini and Apollo space programs; The Right Stuff chronicles the Mercury program. And it's a hell of a movie.
